What kind of curriculum is offered?

Teaching styles can be quite diverse among different providers, such as Montessori or Play-based approaches. At Upwards, we’re here to help providers choose and implement curricula that truly nurture a child's learning and development. Our lesson plans are updated weekly and carefully tailored to different age groups, considering each child's unique developmental needs and learning goals.

Our providers have a variety of different teaching styles, such as:

  • Montessori inspired - based on the approach based on the principles of Dr. Maria Montessori, emphasizing independence, hands-on learning, and self-directed activity. It encourages children to explore their interests at their own pace in a prepared environment that fosters curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking.
  • Reggio Emilia inspired - based on an educational philosophy emphasizing child-led learning, collaboration, and creativity. Originating in Reggio Emilia, Italy, this approach encourages exploration through projects, artistic expression, and strong community involvement. This approach values children's ideas, interests, and curiosity as central to their learning journey.
  • Waldorf inspired - a holistic approach that emphasizes creativity, imagination, and hands-on learning. Rooted in the philosophy of Rudolf Steiner, it integrates academics, arts, and practical skills to nurture the whole child - mind, body, and spirit. This approach encourages experiential learning, storytelling, and a strong connection to nature.
  • Faith-based - integrates religious teaching and values into academic subjects. It combines traditional education content with spiritual development, emphasizing moral character, ethics, and faith practices. This approach includes prayer, scripture study, and lessons that reflect the guiding principles of a particular faith.
  • Project-based - an education approach that engages students in hands-on, real-world projects to develop knowledge and skills. Students explore meaningful questions or problems, working collaboratively to research, create, and present their findings. This method emphasizes critical thinking, creativity, and active learning.
  • Development play-based - an educational approach that emphasizes learning through play, tailored to children's developmental stages. It encourages exploration, creativity, and social interaction, using hands-on activities to build cognitive, social, and motor skills in a nurturing environment.
