What is the Active Members List?

Syncing your Active Member List lets you easily manage who can access your company benefits. Members on your list can create an account and access their benefits via the Upwards portal. 

When you sync a new list, any registered member who was previously able to access their benefits but is not on the new list will require confirmation before they are inactivated. This will help prevent accidental inactivation. 


How can I share my HRIS Census Data?

You can submit your Active Members list through three delivery methods:

  • SFTP - This is our recommended method since it encrypts your employee data and helps our team automate employment verification.
  • Email
  • Dropbox

How do I set up an SFTP?

SFTP, or Secure File Transfer Protocol, provides a more secure method for transmitting critical data between organizations. By automating the secure transfer of your census, you can eliminate manual processing. Upwards can use your census to verify the identities of registered employees and provide various metrics, such as retention and turnover statistics, to you.


1. Involve the right team

We will work with your IT or Tech department or a 3rd party (like Paycom or ADP), if you use one, to set up your SSH Public Key. All we need is an introduction!


2. Send the SSH Public Key

Your tech team will send us the SSH Public Key, which connects us to you like an HDMI cable. This key secures the files as they are transferred from your team to Upwards!


3. Account Creation

We will create your account and share the username and Filer Server Connection generated with your SSH Public Key.


4. Send a test file

Your team will send the Test File to the Production account, following the file format shared with you by your CSM, named using the format below:

{CUSTOMER_NAME}_benefits_access_{YYYYMMDD}.csv


5. Confirm receipt and carry on!

Your CSM will confirm receipt of the test file to ensure the connection is valid. You will send your eligibility file monthly (or biweekly for stipend accounts).


What employee information do I need to share with Upwards?
